Course: Recruitment and Selection

Who is this course for?


This course is suitable for line managers who manage one or more members of staff and who are going to be recruiting new members of staff, or staff who are going to be part of a recruitment panel.




This highly practical, interactive and supportive course is designed to develop skills and confidence in the recruitment of staff. It provides an overview of the School’s recruitment processes and will enable participants to become more effective when recruiting and ensure that those selected are the best fit for the jobs you need to fill. 


By the end of this course you will


  • Familiarise yourself with the LSE Recruitment team and its function including using WCN
  • Have written a person specification using the HERA framework
  • Explore the shortlisting process
  • Conduct a selection interview
  • Discuss note-taking and the assessment of candidates
  • Review other methods of selection such as tests and presentations


The morning will focus on LSE processes and best practice from the start of the recruitment process to the selection of staff.


The afternoon will focus on practicing panel interviews based on a real Job Description and Person Specification.  You will receive helpful and constructive feedback to build your skills and confidence.
