Please note that we are no longer taking bookings for the Software Surgery. The following is for information only!

From 30th July to 3rd September 2015 the Software Surgery will be held in the Walk In Centre on the 1st Floor of the Library every Thursday from 13.00-14.00.
The Software Surgery is a drop-in service for LSE staff and students to can get help on specific problems with the following software applications:

  • Microsoft Office : Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word(Useful if you're writing your dissertation!)
  • Library Technologies : Endnote *, e-journals and online data sources
This service is based on a first-come, first-served policy and we no longer take advanced bookings. In order to accomodate as many people as possible there is a time limit of 15 minutes for each query.

Please make sure you have a copy of your owrk on your H:Space and/or memory stick when you attend a session. We cover the topics listed above, but we do not know everything! if we cannot help you solve your problem in the time available on the day, we will get back to you at a later date.   If you need more information, please contact us at 

Please note the following:
  • These are drop-in sessions for specific problems and not for general training
  • If you have a methodology query rather than a software query, please attend the Methods Surgery instead
  • If you need help with an Apple device or software, please attend Apple Hour
