Who is this course for?
 
This course is suitable for line managers who manage one or more members of staff and who are currently Grade 6 or above.  This course would be of benefit to those managers who are relatively new to managing people and want to understand what is expected of them and how they can ensure they have the requisite skills and attitude.  It will help those who want to add some structure to their managerial development and those who just don’t know where to start.
 
Overview
 
This practical and experiential day long course takes delegates stage by stage through a self-managed development model, bringing into awareness both external and internal (personal) factors that have implications on their development planning. 
 
By the end of this course you will
 

  • Examine the journey from manager to leader
  • Understand the attitudes, skills and responsibilities required when managing people
  • Understand the concept of emotional intelligence as a way of generating self-awareness
  • Examine key current leadership themes and models
  • Create a fully formed development plan
  • Look at options including the use of psychometrics to aid awareness and reflection of personality and motivation/learning styles
