Course: Understanding copyright issues for PhD students
This course is aimed at PhD students and covers the copyright issues that may arise when undertaking research and presenting your findings. Under the examination exception in the law, PhD theses can contain copyright material without the author needing to get copyright permission for this material, however if you plan to publish your thesis and deposit it in LSE Thesis Online, you will need to ensure you have appropriate permissions for any content that you do not own. The session will include tips for obtaining copyright permissions as well as what you can and cannot include in publications under UK law.
