| Course: |
Your PhD and the research process |
| Description: |
Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dean of Graduate Studies (Department of Social Policy) has a long standing interest in the pedagogy of teaching and learning. When one reads a good book (fiction or non-fiction) the final product has not been written as you read it; it has been through a very messy process. Researching and writing a PhD is not a dissimilar process.
Navigating the Research Process (a web-based resource) designed by Dr. Sunil Kumar, explores the complex linkages between various research components such as: the research question, literature search, literature review, conceptual framework, methods and argument. The focus of this session is to encourage you to think laterally and to constantly revisit the complex connections between the different research components.
Attendees are strongly advised to enrol on and explore ‘Researching and Writing Assessed Essays and Dissertations’ on Moodle (there is no enrolment key) prior to the workshop in order to gain the maximum benefit. The course can be found here: https://moodle.lse.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=186
Lunch will be provided at the end of the session. After lunch there will be a session on Impact PhD - check on the Training and Development System under "PGR Students" to sign up.
