Who is this course for?
 
This course is suitable for all staff who are either new to management/team leading or who have joined the School as a new manager/team leader.  It is also suitable for staff who manage and influence others through project working, and therefore have some organisational impact upon the work of others.
 
Overview
 
The Step Up Programme provides participants with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Award.  It is ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but perhaps no formal training. In particular it supports practising team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management and managers who need to lead people through organisational change projects.
 
This is a 3 day programme with a 3 to 4 week gap in between workshops and is therefore run over a 3 month period.  Participates complete 3 workplace assignments linked to each of the modules which consist of:-
 

• Understanding Leadership
• Understanding how to Motivate and Improve Performance
• Understanding Organising and Delegating in the Workplace

By the end of this course you will
 

• Understand different leadership styles
• Understand and review your own leadership qualities and potential
• Understand the factors that influence motivation levels in the workplace
• Understand how the theory of motivation can be used to improve performance levels
• Understand how to organise and delegate people to achieve objectives

Before the course
 
Participants will need to complete the on-line Induction module and also complete their registration with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) to activate and obtain membership for the duration of the programme.
