Course: Workshop: Designing your grant proposals - What Makes a Research Application?
Description:

A good research proposal needs more than a great research question. This session is about effective ways of designing your research project including:

  • project design
  • defining a time frame
  • using flowcharts
  • costing
  • management
  • dissemination
  • having appropriate resources to deliver it

This session will make you think past your research idea and into designing your research project, deciding your methodologies and data collection techniques, and what resources you really need.
You will explore approaches that can be used to turn research ideas into impactful, and policy relevant project ideas for the purpose of winning awards.

Aimed at researchers who are relatively new to designing research funding proposals and those who want to brush up their skills.  Delivered by the Research Development Team from Research Division.

A sandwich lunch will be served.

This will involve participants conduct an exercise on
defining a research idea in relation to funders’ requirements. It will give a snapshot of general approaches
that can be used to turn research ideas into impactful, and policy relevant project ideas for the purpose of
winning awards. This aims at researchers who are relatively new to designing research funding proposals.
Participants will have gain some understanding of research project design and management, l, defining a
time frame, using flowcharts, and so on. Once you have an idea, designed your research project, decided
your methodologies and data collection techniques, how are you going to decide what resources do you
really need? The session will also include costing.
