Programme: Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Impact
Course: Workshop: Collecting evidence of research impact
Description:

This workshop will provide participants with an overview of impact ‘indicators’ identified in guidance produced for REF2014 and help them understand HEFCE’s requirements for documenting claims to research impact. This will include discussion of the types of evidence eligible for inclusion in REF2014 impact case studies, of the ways in which these different forms of evidence can be collected and of their relative efficacy in support of different types of impact claim.

Participants will be encouraged to use their own research projects as vehicles for thinking about approaches to and methodologies for collecting convincing evidence of research impact to report both to future REF assessments and to other funder reports and assessment exercises. REF 2014 impact case studies will be used as models of good practice.

This workshop is intended for faculty and researchers who have had (or believe that their research may generate) research impact and want to be able to identify and collect evidence commensurate with the development of an impact case study.
