| Description: | In this workshop we will discuss the power of photographs to convey complex ideas and how to effectively use them to illustrate your research. We will look at historical and contemporary examples of successful photographs that have encapsulated complicated social and political issues. Practical tips on composition, framing, viewpoint and exposure will be discussed. Many of you may have already taken photographs on fieldwork trips or you may be planning how to visually illustrate your research, all are welcome. Please bring any existing photographs to the workshop for feedback and advice. Bridget Smith is a photographer represented by Frith Street Gallery, London. She is a tutor at the Royal Academy Schools and was Senior Lecturer Photography at Kingston University. |
