Course: Annual Visit from UK Research Office (Brussels) - EC Grants
Description:

This full day workshop will focus on the purpose, nature and structure of EU collaborative grant proposals. as well as how to get successful grants from EU bodies. The LSE's UK Research Office (UKRO) advisor in Brussels, Maribel Glogowski, will present the sessions.
 

Session 1:
11.00-12.30: What is Horizon2020?
This session focuses on the EU's major research funding programme, Horizon2020, and gives a snapshot of the "collaborative" funding schemes LSE academics can apply for.
 
12.30-13.30: Lunch and networking
 
Session 2:
13.30-14.30: Practicalities of grant proposals for Horizon2020
This session highlights the key expectations of the European Commission as the funding body, and general tips for winning Horizon2020 grants with a focus on "collaborative" grants. (To be confirmed: an LSE successful Horizon2020 grant holder might be present subject to their availability).
 
14.30-14.45: Break
 
Session 3:
14.45-15.30: Funding beyond Horizon2020
This session will present a small,  "selected" number of funding schemes that are outside of the main Horizon2020 schemes which social scientists can apply for. It will include COST networking grants, Creative Europe schemes, Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) and (ERA-NETs).
 
Session 4:
15.30-16.00: Meet with LSE's UKRO adviser
UKRO Adviser will stay for half an hour to meet LSE staff who have more specific questions and would like to meet her. 

lunch will be served.
