Course: Using questions that promote critical thinking skills
Description:

Questions can be one of the most effective tools in the teaching toolkit. Through examining a range of question types and through examining these in relation to the skills that we wish our students to develop, this workshop offers participants the opportunity to see how they can use questions as a method for developing students’ critical thinking skills.

Who should attend?

This workshop is open to all those who teach at LSE. It will mainly focus on questions in seminars but the principles can also be expanded to the lecture theatre.

Learning Outcomes

After this session you should be able to:

  • Examine the range of question types that can be employed in education
  • Use questions to develop a students’ critical thinking skills
  • Know when and how to apply certain question formats.
