Course: Engage with arguments and evidence in your readings

We’re told to “engage critically” with texts. But what does that mean? Discover ways to transform “passive” reading habits. Consider a range of different purposes of reading, and practise formulating your own reading goals every time you sit down with a text. Find out how “being critical” is not simply a matter of “criticising” but involves asking questions and testing claims. Practise identifying the main claims and evidence in a text, finding the author’s line of reasoning, and formulating questions.
