Programme: Atlas 2018-19
Course: Applying the principles of playful learning and creativity in the classroom
Description:

This workshop builds on the session held at the end of last summer term where you had the opportunity to engage with a range of creative activities that were designed to help you reflect on your practice. During the session we also engaged, briefly, with the concept of playfulness as a signature pedagogy. In this session we will move on to examine how this signature pedagogy would shape curriculum design, including developing emergent learning outcomes and assessment diversification.

Who should attend?

Anyone who would like to explore the role of playfulness and creativity in learning.

You don’t have to have attended the workshop in ST, but if you haven’t you will be asked to carry out a short preparatory activity, which should take no longer than 30 mins.

Learning outcomes

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the key features of playfulness as a signature pedagogy
  • Explore the concept of emergent learning outcomes
  • Discuss how emergent outcomes can be integrated into classroom activities and inform assessment.
