Programme: LSE LIFE Programme
Course: LIFE in London: Modern and Contemporary Art – Even a Child Could Do That, Right?!?
Description:

Very often when we see a work of modern or contemporary art our first reaction is a shrug. Maybe it looks as if someone just thoughtlessly cut through a canvas, or possibly it reminds us of a toddler doodling on a piece of paper. Yet museums, critics and buyers might consider that particular piece to be ground-breaking. But why? With this webinar, students will analyse works by artists like Mona Hatoum, Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama and Jean-Michel Basquiat. They will freely share their thoughts and discuss why they believe these paintings and installations might be worth millions (or not).
