Programme: Virtual online training
Course: Whiteness and white fragility - workshop and discussion (2 part course: 2 x 1 hour sessions)
Description:

This workshop is organised in collaboration with LSE EmbRace (staff network that champions race equality and supports the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community at LSE)

This training is aimed at staff who identify as White and the session is designed to be a safe space to fully discuss the concept of race.

This is a two-part event. The first part will take the form of a workshop exploring concepts such as whiteness, white complicity, white fragility and white privilege (1h). By the end of this session participants will have improved their understanding of the racialised nature of our society, analysed the role that we as white people play in maintaining the status quo and evaluated the impact of whiteness on our perception of the world around us.

The second part of the session will build on the knowledge gained in the first session and will be in the form of a discussion led by participants (1h). The aim of this session is to allow the participants to explore their doubts and insecurities surrounding discussions around 'race' both at LSE as well as in the wider society. While we cannot guarantee full answers to all the questions, the session will be a stimulating, thought provoking discussion for those eager to interrogate their role in a deeply racialised society.

If you have any questions about the session, please do get in touch with LSE EmbRace via embrace@lse.ac.uk
